JGM1 and JGM2 are TSO-assigned codes that define how your BESS can be used to deliver ancillary services.
Here’s a quick summary of nuanced differences that can have a big impact on revenue:
JGM1:
- The TSO can adjust both your operating state and power (charge/discharge/stop).
- You specify energy potentials (delivery/absorption) across a sequence of intervals, creating an energy window the TSO can use flexibly.
- Great if you want to maximize flexibility revenues.
JGM2:
- The TSO can adjust power only, in the direction you allow for each 15-min interval.
- You choose one direction per interval (either up or down). No portfolio-style energy windowing across intervals.
- Simpler, with lower operational risk, but fewer value-capture paths.
